Description

A small collection of 17 vehicles produced by the legendary British toy manufacturer Corgi including four large scale early models, from various eras in the company's history. Please note that they're in various states of repair and completeness (detailed description of the four oldest models below) and that none of the items have their boxes or other packaging and are being sold as a job lot and as seen in the photographs.

The oldest four are also the largest and most collectable. They include

• #417 Land-Rover 109" W.B. recovery truck, 1:46 scale, C.1960 - in red and, unusually, retaining its yellow canopy featuring a rotating silver spotlight and decals with the Corgi logo with "Breakdown Service" underneath. The vehicle has some paintchips but is overall in good condition with straight axles and all four original wheels and tyres plus spare - one of the rear tyres is cracked and all have hardened with age. The towing rig is in place and isn't bent and the windlass mechanism, operated by rotating the spare wheel, is intact but the cable and hook are missing. The window transparencies are dirty and scuffed but have no cracks. The canopy is bent but, being made of very thin metal (not plastic, as in later models), will be easy to straighten. This model may have originally had a dummy fuel cap covering the end of the windlass shaft, this is not present on this example. Dimensions (L x W): 10 x 4.4cm

• #478 Jeep FC-150 Cherry Picker, in red with silver grille (other colours were also produced), 1:43 scale, C.1960 - in red with a silver arm and yellow platform. The platform still works perfectly and all four wheels plus spare are intact. The paint is chipped, especially along the rear of the cab roof where the arm rubs it and there is a small black mark on the front of the roof. The window transparencies are a little scuffed but are not cracked and, overall, are much better than most models of the era. Dimensions (L x W): 12 x 4.4cm

• #213 Jaguar 2.4L "Fire Chief", in red with silver grille and details, scale unknown, C.1960-1961. Nylon section of ariel snapped off, but the metal base remains and could thus be restored; the passenger side section of the siren is also missing. Paint chipped and some rust on the chassis; all four original wheels and tyres present and in good shape, running on straight axles. One "fire chief" decal is missing entirely while the other is badly scuffed; number plate decals are in good condition and - an unusual feature on a toy car - it has its vehicle excise disc in the windscreen. The window transparencies are a little scuffed but are not cracked and, overall, are much better than most models of the era. Dimensions (L x W): 10 x 4cm

• #204 Rover 90, in blue and white with silver details, scale unknown, C. 1956-1961. Im fairly certain the paint isn't original on this one as I've been unable to find another in blue and white, the transition between the two colours is messy, there's some paint over-run on the window transparencies and the grille and headlights are white which doesn't appear to have been a feature when new - however, there's no indication of a different colour underneath, so it's a mystery. The paint is chipped and there's a little rust on the chassis, but the window transparencies are in good spae despite the spots of paint - a little scuffed, but no cracks. All four original convex wheels are intact and running on straight axles but the rear passenger side tyre is missing; the remaining three are in good order. The front and rear number plates, which are stickers rather than decals, are present but badly scuffed. The vehicle excise disc is present but on the wrong side of the windscreen.

Other vehicles, in various condition but all complete and including their full set of wheels, include:
• Petrol tanker lorry, white with BP livery; (L x W) 20.5 x 3.5cm
• Jaguar XJ-S, British Racing Green with white logos; (L x W) 7.5 x 3.5cm
• Renault 5 Turbo, blue and white with BP racing team livery; (L x W) 7 x 3.5cm
• Porsche Carrera, black with gold stripe; (L x W) 7.5 x 3.5cm
• Vauxhall Nova, silver with BP racing team livery; 7 x 3.5cm
• Rover 3500 police cars x2, white with police livery and blue lights, opening rear doors; (L x W) 7.5 x 3.1cm
• BMW, yellow with Silverstone racing team livery; (L x W) 8 x 4cm
• Mercedes sallon, burgundy; (L x W) 8 x 3.5cm
• Ferrari 308 GTS, red with black and white Ferrari logo; (L x W) 7.5 x 3.5cm
• Volvo saloon, metallic grey; (L x W) 8 x 3.5cm
• Ford Transit, red with Pointers livery; (L x W) 7.5 x 3.2cm
• Aston Martin DB6, blue with black stripes and logos; (L x W) 7.5 x 2.7cm
• Wilma Flintstone's sportscar, yellow with brown wood-effect parts, Wilma is sitting in it; (L x W) 7.5 x 3.2cm

Also included are five further models produced by different manufacturers including a Hot Wheels Audi Quattro, a Majorette Benne Carriere dumptruck, a Majorette Tracto snowplough and a Corgi agricultural plough.

About Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Its ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. The aim is to provide the highest quality care, helping them to make every moment count.

Around 4,000 patients are cared for each year at the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.

Alongside the care provided by the Inpatient Unit, Living Well services and Hospice at Home teams, patients can access: patient and family support; lymphoedema care; complementary therapy; medical and pain outpatient clinics; and advice from the clinical nurse specialists within the Specialist Palliative Care Home Team. Programmes are practical, holistic and tailored to the individual patient, family member or carer and may also include rehabilitative support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychological support.

It will cost £10.5 million in 2021/2022 to run services, which are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £6.98 million, meaning that £3.52 million needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading. The Charity is extremely grateful to the local community for the continual dedication, commitment and generosity they show in supporting towards meeting this target.
