There are no end of fashion designers who claim to take influence from street style, but few who do it as authentically as Alexander McQueen: the son of a comprehensive school teacher and a taxi driver, he spent the first year of his life in a council flat before the family was upgraded to a terraced house, and after leaving school with one O-Level to his name he'd have almost certainly have faced a lifetime of poorly-paid, humdrum unskilled jobs had it now have been for a remarkable natural talent for tailoring - and self-promotion.

McQueen was recognised as someone who did things differently and his ability to produce entirely novel designs that stood out from the crowd and one who used fabrics and materials in a way nobody else had ever imagined. That's certainly the case with these mid-calf length boots: at first glance, they look like a stretchy fabric but are in fact made of neoprene, a synthetic rubber more familiar as the material from which diving dry suits, laptop sleeves and, over the last couple of years, high quality face masks are made; it became popular among cutting-edge street style designers in the last decade and was soon adopted my mainstream designers including Balenciaga, Vera Wang and Sarah Burton, who took over as creative director at Alexander McQueen in 2020.

This pair have been supplied to our charity by a very well-known high end shoe shop specialising in the very best haute couture footwear and accessories, where they retailed at £690. They are 100% authentic items with all correct logos and features, and are not “seconds”. They will be supplied in the correct and original boxes bearing the logos of the manufacturer. An original dust bag and a pair of replaceable heel tips are also included.

They have been worn only once, by a model during a fashion shoot. As such, they are in excellent condition; though please do note that due to the very light colour and slightly absorbent nature of the uppers there are some very small and extremely light patches of discolouration - fortunately, this defect is so minor that it's almost invisible under normal lighting. There is also very minor wear to the soles, no more than would be expected for shoes worn once.

Change of Mind

If when you receive your order you are not completely satisfied, you may return the items to us within 30 days for a refund. Returns will be processed within three working days once the goods have been received by us.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Its ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. The aim is to provide the highest quality care, helping them to make every moment count.

Around 4,000 patients are cared for each year at the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.

Alongside the care provided by the Inpatient Unit, Living Well services and Hospice at Home teams, patients can access: patient and family support; lymphoedema care; complementary therapy; medical and pain outpatient clinics; and advice from the clinical nurse specialists within the Specialist Palliative Care Home Team. Programmes are practical, holistic and tailored to the individual patient, family member or carer and may also include rehabilitative support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychological support.

It will cost £10.5 million in 2021/2022 to run services, which are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £6.98 million, meaning that £3.52 million needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading. The Charity is extremely grateful to the local community for the continual dedication, commitment and generosity they show in supporting towards meeting this target.
