Description

First introduced in 1983 when Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe perfected his dream of creating the ultimate go-anywhere "watch that never breaks", the G-Shock range has grown to include many different models and has admirers all around the world - anywhere you find divers, firefighters, soldiers, extreme sports enthusiasts and anyone else who needs a watch that can take some serious abuse and keep on going, you'll find G-Shocks.

The legendary GA-100 is one of the toughest of them all, designed for the harshest environments including those where protective clothing is required: it's antimagnetic and waterproof to 200 metres, the red and silver hands are designed to be easy to see at a quick glance, the buttons are oversized and rubberised for easy operation in thick gloves and it's even possible to tell the time in the dark without touching the watch due to the in-built computer's ability to detect when the watch is raised to the face and automatically light up the dial in response... at least, Casio say that's the computer - sounds like witchcraft to me!

This example has been worn but remains in excellent condition, which is no surprise really because very little other than a direct hit from a tank shell will damage a GA-100. There's a little light scratching to the stainless caseback, but the case and glass are entirely unmarked and there is no wear to the text on the case. It's fitted with the original rubber strap with twin-tang clasp, which has a huge degree of adjustability to fit all wearers and is also in superb condition. The watch is in full working order, though we don't know how old the battery is and therefore cannot guarantee battery life.

Please note that there is no box, manual or other literature; the watch will be supplied in generic packaging.

About Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end-of-life care. Its ‘Outstanding’ services are provided free of charge to patients and their families. The aim is to provide the highest quality care, helping them to make every moment count.

Around 4,000 patients are cared for each year at the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.

Alongside the care provided by the Inpatient Unit, Living Well services and Hospice at Home teams, patients can access: patient and family support; lymphoedema care; complementary therapy; medical and pain outpatient clinics; and advice from the clinical nurse specialists within the Specialist Palliative Care Home Team. Programmes are practical, holistic and tailored to the individual patient, family member or carer and may also include rehabilitative support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychological support.

It will cost £10.5 million in 2021/2022 to run services, which are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £6.98 million, meaning that £3.52 million needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading. The Charity is extremely grateful to the local community for the continual dedication, commitment and generosity they show in supporting towards meeting this target.
