If you're after a sub-compact, ultra-portable computer and don't need class-leading specs, Sony's Vaio VGN-P11Z remains worth a look even many years after it appeared on the market - the 1.33GHz Atom Z520 chip, Intel GMA 500 graphics, 60GB hard drive and 2GB RAM might no longer get the reviewers excited, but it's all good enough for word processing, emails, spreadsheets and web browsing. 1600×768 resolution no longer sounds impressive either, but on an 8-inch screen it's plenty enough. It has both Wifi and Bluetooth too, which are of course now everyday essentials.Sony have always been the experts at identifying new market segments and then developing a product to fill them, and that's exactly what they did here: the P112Z may look and feel like a netbook at just 24.5 x 12 x 1.9cm folded and only 635g with battery, but from launch the manufacturer was insistent that it's not one - it has the convenience and compactness of a netbook, they pointed out, but it's really a notebook PC with better spec than netbook. This, they decided, should be called an "ultraportable lifestyle PC", and of course absolutely nobody else ever used the phrase.
This one is running Windows Vista Home Premium, which is probably about the latest version of the operating system it can manage, but it does it well and the interfaces have been ergonomically designed: the touchstick takes a little getting used to if you've become used to a mouse, touchpad or touchscreen, but there are plenty of people out there who prefer it and after a few hours you'll have the cursor whizzing around the screen and ending up where you want it. Buttons are all where you expect them to be to avoid fiddling around, and for a device of this size the QWERTY keyboard isn't bad - it doesn't compare to a proper keyboard and the keys have very little travel, but they do offer just enough resistance to make typing easier than expected. The front-facing SDHC and Memory Stick Pro/Duo slots are a nice touch, not least of all if 60GB isn't enough for you: 32GB SDHC cards are dirt cheap these days and will increase storage by more than 50% in an instant, and it's got two USB ports so you can easily connect it to a portable drive.
It's been used, but remains in very good condition - no cracks, only a couple of very light scratches to the exterior; there are no missing keys or other parts. We don't know how many charging cycles the 2100mAh battery has been through so we can't guarantee it, but when tested it powered the device for 2.5 hours. The display has some light scuffs but they're far too minor to get in the way during use and there are no dead pixels. The camera works (it's 0.3MP incidentally - wow!), as do all other features and functions.
Also supplied are an original UK-type mains adapter, which has been PAT tested and certified safe to use, and two Sony Vaio soft cases to protect both the device and the adapter.

Change of Mind

Around 4,000 patients are cared for each year at the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech and in patients’ own homes via the Arthur Rank Community Team. This care supports people to improve their quality of life and fulfil their end of their life choices.
Alongside the care provided by the Inpatient Unit, Living Well services and Hospice at Home teams, patients can access: patient and family support; lymphoedema care; complementary therapy; medical and pain outpatient clinics; and advice from the clinical nurse specialists within the Specialist Palliative Care Home Team. Programmes are practical, holistic and tailored to the individual patient, family member or carer and may also include rehabilitative support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychological support.
It will cost £10.5 million in 2021/2022 to run services, which are provided free of charge to patients and their loved ones. Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £6.98 million, meaning that £3.52 million needs to be raised through donations, fundraising activities and trading. The Charity is extremely grateful to the local community for the continual dedication, commitment and generosity they show in supporting towards meeting this target.
