Harris Tweed jackets, once primarily associated with Highland grouse moors, have been one of the biggest fashion successes over the last few years and are now just as likely to be seen around Chelsea as the Cairngorms. It's easy to see: an authentic Harris Tweed jacket is uniquely versatile, matching everything from a pair of jeans to a skirt, and while Harris Tweed is expensive to buy it's money well spent - an authentic Harris Tweed garment will last a lifetime.

To be authentic, any Harris Tweed fabric must be certified by the Harris Tweed Authority and to gain such certification the fabric must be hand-woven in the Outer Hebrides using only pure virgin wools which are shorn from Cheviot and Scottish Blackface sheep raised on the islands. It is made by only three mills known as Kenneth Mackenzie, Carloway and Harris Tweed Hebrides, each of which is visited by Harris Tweed Authority inspectors every week to ensure quality standards are maintained, or by one of a small number of independent weavers. All certified Harris Tweed must be produced on traditional, treadle-powered weaving looms and all products used in preparation must be natural products - most of them grow locally. That's why it's expensive (around £499 new for this one): you're paying for true artisanship and quality, not for a designer label.

This beautiful modern take on a traditional style is fully authentic, as can be seen from the very strictly trademarked Harris Tweed Authority label sewn into the right side lining which features a unique serial number and the world famous orb certification mark, while the designer's - Peter James, based in Yorkshire - appears on the opposite side. The orb is repeated in the surprising purple lining, which also features a map of the Outer Hebrides. The weave is sky blue herringbone with a muted check in pale blue, darker blue and dusky pink; it has a single vent at the back, three buttons at the sleeve vents and three more to fasten at the front. Overall, the style is feminine and timelessly elegant, but the garment also looks perfectly capable of withstanding the gorse-covered moors - which, being Harris Tweed, it is.

The jacket appears to be unworn, with no signs of wear or tear nor other defects to either the exterior or lining. All buttons are firmly stitched, and there are no pulls or runs in the fabric.

Delivery

Delivery times are calculated in working days (Monday to Friday). If your order is placed after 1pm, the next working day will be considered the first working day for delivery. Returns

Change of Mind

If when you receive your order you are not completely satisfied, you may return the items to us within 30 days for a refund. Returns will be processed within three working days once the goods have been received by us.

Items must be returned to us in the same condition as they were received by you. This includes, but is not limited to: original packaging, original boxes, packaging materials, manuals, blank warranty cards, accessories and documents. We reserve the right to refuse a return or deduct an amount for lost value where the item is returned in a different condition.

We strongly recommend that you fully insure your package that you are returning, as well as using a carrier that can provide you with tracking information or proof of delivery.
